History

The area of the village was inhabited from the bronze age. The old Hungarians seeking a home country settled down here at the beginning of the tenth century. Its first church was built at the beginning of the 12th century, the nearby village Byk was first mentioned in its charter of 1271. From the 15th century three villages subsisted side by side partly called Bük. Their inhabitants were the gentry and serfs. The most well known noble family was the Büki family at the time of the Árpád-house kings and in the 14th century. In the 17-18th centuries several county leaders and castle captains were from the noble families Horváth from Mankóbük and Nagy from Felsőbük...
